Accomplishments: Rene Descartes accomplished many things as a mathematician. One of his most famous were his philosophical writings. He was convinced that science and mathematics could be used to explain everything in nature. One of Descartes's most important accomplishments is with the development of analytic, Cartesian Geometry , or as we best know it by, coordinate geometry.
